Following the series of exhibitions held in Japan in March, the NAB Show, one of the world’s leading broadcasting technology showcases, will take place starting from April 20 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is also known as the venue for the International CES. I looked at the official website and found 2 key points that have been changed from last year. First of all, the color of the logo has changed from red to blue, and the font has become slimmer. And secondly, a Japanese website is now available. Although the English site has more detailed information, you can check out information such as the outline of the event and summaries of the press releases are available on the Japanese website.

The NAB Show boasts a history of over 80 years, but according to the official website, the number of visitors for the last year’s event amounted to 105,259, recording a decrease of 5,000 in comparison to 2007. Even still, there were visitors from 166 countries. Such a diverse number of nationalities was an all time high. Particularly, visitors from Eastern Europe, India, and Central Asia had increased by more than 20%. This event brings together attendees from all over the world including content holders from broadcasting and movie industries and manufacturers of broadcasting equipment and software/hardware for visual production. The NAB Show not only enables people try out new products for themselves, but it is also gaining attention as a platform for holding business negotiations and sharing information. Over 1,600 companies are expected to take part this year and more than 700 sessions will be held at 15 locations within the venue (you can check the schedules for each session and keynote speeches here).
