This year’s theme for the Panasonic booth at Inter BEE 2009 is "Expanding Panasonic AVC World - HD solution with ‘eco ideas’ -." The presentation held on the main stage describes how the energy efficiency of camera systems and recorders have improved by getting rid of the mechanical drive, and environmental considerations that aim to reduce waste as much as possible by reusing semiconductor memory (P2 cards and SD Memory Cards) over and over again instead of using tapes.
In concert with the theme, energy-saving spotlights that use LEDs as a light source are introduced here in the studio lighting corner. Although they efficiently save energy, it doesn’t mean that the lights are dimmer. They provide very strong light, sufficiently fulfilling their role as spotlights while consuming less power. Here, you can also see a demonstration that shows you the actual power consumed as well as panels introducing case examples where these lights have been installed.
In this corner, you will find on display the AG-HPG200, a new model of the Memory Card Portable Recorder/Player "P2 mobile," and you can also watch a demonstration that is being held periodically. Compatible with both P2HD and AVCHD formats, this new model lets you directly import video footage recorded on P2 Cards or SD Memory Cards and send it via the network from the shoot location without having to first connect to a computer. The great thing about the new model is that it is compatible with a wide range of formats. In addition to the 2 formats indicated above, the new model is also compatible with analog video content. Moreover, it offers multiple functions including editing, transmission, and recording. So, it is a very convenient model to have.
Next to the corner where the demonstration is conducted, you will find an alliance corner for partners providing editing software. There are corners here for 4 companies, where you can watch demonstrations of applications that let you edit P2HD or other video content by directly importing the content onto the computer.
The camera shooting corner has been designed to resemble the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. If you look closely, you can find the Olympic Games mascots on the deckchairs and tables. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games were held, but the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games will be held very soon, in less than 3 months.
Here, at the shooting corner where you will also find a log house, you can shoot models wearing colorful skiwear. The skis and snowboards found here as well as the skiwear that the models are wearing are all latest models of the season provided by the kind cooperation of the respective manufacturers.
In addition to the lineup of AVCCAM cameras, which are products that are in the main spotlight in the Panasonic booth at Inter BEE 2009, in the back end of the corner you can find large-scale camera systems such as the "P2 VARICAM" AJ-HPX3700. Visitors are shooting the smiling models and snowboards using cameras that meet their needs, checking out the operability and picture quality for themselves. I saw a group of young women, perhaps students that go to a sound or film school, who were taking turns trying out the AVCCAM.
Today, the first day of Inter BEE, I would like to introduce the various corners of the Panasonic booth with photographs.
On the front left side of the booth, you will find the main stage. The 2 displays used here are not the familiar 103-inch, but the new 85-inch PDPs. If you place the 85-inch plasma display panel vertically, it can display a person almost in life-size. The presentation held on the main stage introduces new products, eco activities, sponsorship of the Olympic Games, and the FULL HD 3D. The presentation seems very well received; a great number of visitors gather around the stage every time the countdown begins.
The man on the left side of the stage is working on something and doesn't turn around even while the female MC is giving the presentation. He is actually playing a very important role, which I will write about later on.
On the left side of the stage, you will find the P2HD and AVCCAM camera system series. You will also find showcased the mockup of the FULL HD 3D camcorder currently under development, which was also on exhibit at CEATEC JAPAN 2009.

Good morning. This is Atsuko. At 10:00 am today, one of the largest exhibitions in Japan on broadcasting, audio-visual, and communications, the Inter BEE 2009, began at Makuhari Messe. The exhibition offers a rich program with not only various companies' exhibition booths but also symposiums and seminars. (You can pre-register during the exhibition period.) I arrived at Makuhari Messe a while ago. Although it was raining yesterday, the rain has stopped. Unfortunately the skies are still overcast, but it looks like many people may come to the exhibition. I'm sure many visitors from the broadcasting industry, people involved in video production, as well as prosumers will come to have a look.

The Panasonic booth has been designed to be open, and uses images for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. The presentation has already begun on the main stage (shown on the left side of the photograph). The area on the right is a shooting area with a set designed to represent winter sports, and in the backside of the booth you will be able to watch a detailed demonstration of how to operate the new products on exhibit. I would like to go take a closer look around the booth now, so that I can start telling you all about it.
An exhibition for audio, visual, and communication professionals - "Inter BEE 2009" will begin on Nov 18!

The Inter BEE 2009 (International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition), which will begin on Wednesday, November 18 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, is one of the largest exhibitions on audio, visual, broadcasting, and communications industry in Japan. You will find many broadcast equipment, audio-visual devices, and peripheral applications and solutions from Japan and all around the world. As the wave of digital broadcasting spreads across the world, there is increasing demand for not only visual content, but also new solutions and services realized by connecting to the network. As such, the organizers announced that they will have a new pavilion, the "IPTV, Mobile TV, Cross Media Zone."
In Japan, the complete shift to digital terrestrial broadcasting will occur in 2 years, so many large broadcasting networks as well as cable TV stations have begun HD broadcasting; the preparations for the shift seems to be already in place on the broadcasters' side. And currently, the shift to HD is even occurring with respect to bridal videos, promotion videos, schools, and production for Internet content. People who use HD devices in these various fields may have a desire for even greater picture quality in order to provide "professional quality imagery." And I am sure many people are interested in workflows and solutions that will enable them to make full use of HD imagery. Well, Inter BEE offers a great opportunity for people to actually check out the devices and experience what it would be like to use them. In recent years, the population of professional-minded consumers (prosumers) is said to be also increasing. I hope to check out this expanding world of HD imagery at Inter BEE 2009.
At the Panasonic booth you will find camera systems, LCD monitors, switchers, and studio lighting systems, among other devices and solutions under the theme, "Expanding Panasonic AVC World ~ HD solution with 'eco ideas' ~." You can also watch a demonstration of the new broadcast workflow. Solutions that incorporate advanced technology, but are environmentally conscious will also be on exhibit.
